We offer two Animal Science programs that can be completed here at LBCC as well as
two that are specifically designed to prepare you to transfer to Oregon State University.
Animal Technology, Associate of Applied Science
This two-year degree provides you with knowledge and skills useful for working in
production livestock occupations and in entering into livestock-related fields.
Animal Technology: Horse Management, Associate of Applied Science
This two-year degree provides you with the knowledge and skills useful for entering
occupations in the horse industry with a small training and breeding facility that
provides extensive, practical, hands-on experience.
Animal Science Emphasis, Associate of Science
This two-year degree will get you ready to enroll in upper division OSU coursework
for an animal science degree.
Equine Science Emphasis, Associate of Science
This two-year degree prepares you to transfer to OSU to complete your upper division
coursework in equine science.

Livestock Judging Team
Competitive livestock judging is a co-curricular activity integral to the Animal Science
program at LBCC. You don’t have to be an agriculture major or have any prior experience

The Horse Center
The LBCC Horse Center is located approximately 1.5 miles from our Albany Campus at
2958 53rd Ave SW in Albany. It has 30 box stalls, an indoor arena, two hot water wash
racks, year-round turn out, a modern and well equipped breeding facility, and access
to acres of trails. Tours are available by appointment.
Boarding is available to LBCC students, faculty, and staff, with either full or partial
care.
Partial Care
Feed and water twice daily with high-quality Eastern Oregon grass hay and alfalfa.
Available concentrates are oats, beet pulp, 12% protein wet cob, and Mare and Foal
complete feed. Turn out available. $205/month.
Full Care
Same care as above, plus stall cleaning seven days/week, turn out, and blanketing.
$285/month.
