Topics

Food

At LBCC, we believe that you deserve to have access to enough food and good nutrition to power your mind and body while you work hard in challenging classes.

The Roadrunner Resource Center can help you apply for SNAP (food stamps) benefits through the Oregon Department of Human Services, help you find food banks and pantries near your home, and request a grocery gift card for you once per term through our Linn-Benton Lunch Box program that is supported by our SLC (while funds last). Contact us above to get started.

Housing

LBCC does not offer student housing, but the SLC provides a self-service bulletin board with information posted about available rentals in the area.

Local Apartment Complexes

Other Resources

We know that high housing costs are a stress on many households. If you fall behind on rent due to loss of a job, family emergency, extended injury or illness, the Roadrunner Resource Center can also connect you with community organizations that can help prevent you from losing your housing. We can also help you learn about your rights as a renter, suggest options for covering expenses like move-in deposits, and try to help you find shelter and safety if you are experiencing homelessness. Contact us above to get started.

Transportation

You need reliable transportation to attend your classes consistently and support your school success!

Go between our campuses easily on public transportation.

Free Bus Services

Other Options

  • Linn Shuttle: service between Albany, Lebanon, and Sweet Home (LBCC students ride free with student ID or a printed class schedule)

The Roadrunner Resource Center can also help you learn more about local public transit routes and can help you with vehicle related needs as well. If you need assistance with the cost of car insurance or DMV registration, our student emergency funds may be able to help. For larger expenses like urgent car repairs, the LBCC Foundation may be able to provide support for those costs and Roadrunner Resource Center staff can help you apply for those funds. Contact us above to get started.

Child Care

If you are parenting while attending school at LBCC, you're definitely not alone! About a quarter of all LBCC students are parents. Child care costs can be a burden, and we don't want a lack of child care to prevent you from reaching your educational and career goals.

Visit Family Resources to learn more about child care options, including LBCC's own Periwinkle Child Development Center.

The Roadrunner Resource Center can also help you apply for ongoing child care assistance and annual grants, check for openings in the Periwinkle Child Development Center, our on-campus child care/preschool, and more! Contact us above to get started.

Utilities

If you are falling behind on bills related to utilities--like electricity, water, or home internet--the Roadrunner Resource Center may be able to help you catch up and keep your access to these essential services secure. Contact us above to get started.

Textbooks and Technology

Textbooks

LBCC offers several programs that help students save on the cost of their textbooks. The first is Direct Digital Access (DDA), which offers class materials in digital/ebook format for a discount, and the cost is billed directly to your student account rather than you needing to pay for it up front. LBCC is also expanding our Open Educational Resources (OER) program, which means free materials for students. Shortly before the start of each term, we recommend that you use the Campus Store lookup and price comparison tool to check what kind of materials you need for each class. Many classes now use DDA or OER, which require no further action on your part to have access to your materials!

If there is a textbook you do need to purchase and you cannot afford it, the Roadrunner Resource Center may be able to help. Contact us above to get started.

Technology

We know that students also need consistent access to a computer/laptop to access classes and homework. If you don't have a laptop, check in at the front desk in the Library at our Albany Campus and ask about loaner laptops. They have free laptops available for both short-term and long-term check-out periods! Students in certain academic programs may also be able to qualify for a loan-to-own laptop through the Career Pathways Program. Finally, if you receive SNAP benefits (food stamps) you may be able to receive ongoing coaching and some financial support from our SNAP Training and Employment Program (STEP), including a long-term loaner laptop!
