Community Education

Once a class is full, or when the difficult decision is made to cancel a class, we manually remove that class from the available options online.

You may register any time after open registration begins for that term; however, we do not offer prorated course fees for classes that have already started. 

All costs associated with Community Education classes are listed in the schedule of classes under the class description. Some classes have an additional fee for materials or supplies provided in the class. Other classes may require students to purchase supplies to bring to class. Payment is due at the time of registration. Submitting a registration form without payment does not guarantee your spot in the class.

We understand that plans can change. The following guidelines apply to all non-credit courses offered through Community Education.

General Refund Schedule
Refund eligibility is determined by the length of the specific course and when the request is submitted. To receive a 100% refund, you must meet the following deadlines:

Long-Term Classes (6+ weeks) – Five business days after the first course meeting.

Short-Term Classes and Workshops (1-5 sessions) – 2 business days prior to the first session meeting.

Note: No full or partial refunds will be issued once these deadlines have passed except in special circumstances.

Although we try our best to avoid course cancellations, there are instances in which we must make those difficult decisions. Factors such as low enrollment, instructor availability, and unforeseen circumstances affect the final decision to cancel a class. 

In the event of a course cancellation, we will attempt to contact you via phone and we will leave a voice message, if possible. We will also send a message to the preferred email address that was provided on your registration form.

You will receive a full refund for a canceled class. You also have the option to switch into an alternative Community Education course.

Unscheduled closure announcements will be displayed in an alert banner at the top of the website as well as communicated with the local media. For more information, you can reference LBCC's Inclement Weather Protocols.

Generally speaking, only registered students are allowed to attend classes. However, select Benton Center fitness classes can be observed with a Single Class Pass. Please contact us for more information (see card at the top of the page).

Curious about a class or want to share one with a friend?

With a Single Class Pass, you can sample a class or bring a friend for one session:

• 1-hour class: $10
• Benton Center Fitness Classes only.
• Limited to three passes per student each term

Though Community Education classes are geared towards an adult audience, 16- and 17-year-olds can register for classes with parental consent unless otherwise noted in the class description. 13-15-year-olds must have both parental consent and instructor authorization to register. All minors must meet the age requirement at the time of registration.
