Need Help With Specific Software?
Duo
Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) uses two forms of authentication to verify your identity. First, you enter your My LB username and password. Then, you need a physical device such as your smartphone, tablet, or security key to access your account.
There are several ways you can provide the second step of two-step authentication:
Authentication Options
- Duo Mobile push notification (recommended)
- SMS text
- Phone call
Authentication Options

Supported Platforms
- A touch ID/face ID reader built into your hardware via Chrome should work for most applications

Getting Started
You will receive an email to start the enrollment process. If you have never claimed your My LB account or are a new student/employee, you will be prompted to set up Duo security after you complete claiming your account and log in for the first time.
Start this process by opening your email or claiming your My LB account with a computer/laptop. When prompted, install the Duo app, open the Duo app on your phone to scan the QR code. This will complete the enrollment process for Duo push.
To learn more, select the device you want to set up:
One device must be designated as your default device to complete enrollment, and your default device must have a preferred way to authenticate. My LB login prompts you to authenticate using your default device and preferred method, but you have the option of authenticating using a different device (if you have other methods set up).
How you authenticate depends upon the device and method you chose for MFA:
- If you chose Duo Mobile push notifications, a push notification is sent to your device, and you can review the request and tap "approve" to authenticate. Internet or cellular access is required.
- If you chose SMS text, you will receive a text with a code to enter.
- If you chose a security key, press the security key sensor when prompted to authenticate.
You are encouraged to set up a backup device in case your primary device is lost or unavailable.
What to Expect with MFA
Once you enable MFA, the Duo prompt will pop up after signing into My LB. Approve if you have requested the login; deny if you have not requested access. If you are using a browser that you previously used to authenticate, you will be presented with the last-used authentication method. To choose a different authentication method, you can select "other options" to choose one of the other options available to you.

Watermark
Watermark is a convenient tool for quick and easy access to your courses, final grades, tasks to complete, student resources, and the ability to schedule a meeting with your academic advisor or success team.
- Message your advisor, navigator, or instructors
- Set appointments with support services across campus
- See your course schedule, attendance, and final grades all in one place
- View resource referrals from instructors
- Get notifications for important tasks (i.e. scholarship or graduation application)
Watermark connects you with a team of people who are all invested in your success; who understand your situation the most at any point in your academic career.
Additional Help
LBCC uses this tool for coordinated student support. Through Watermark, you can get the tools you need for success and keep track of the support you have received. Watermark allows for continuity of service and less work for the student.
Watermark sends notifications to your team when it looks like something might be going on (for example, if you miss some classes). Your success team can communicate with you and send you tasks and messages.
Log into My LB and click on the Watermark tile.
On your smartphone, you can download the Watermark app to get easy access to your success team and get notifications on information relevant to you (see the buttons above).
Communications sent through Watermark also come to your LBCC student email, and, if the sender requests it, to your personal email.
Notifications prompt you to take action or congratulate you on a job well done. If you receive a notification regarding an instructor’s concern, it’s time to get in contact with your success team. Reach out to your instructor, your navigator, or your advisor to figure out your next steps and make a plan.
Your instructors may also make referrals to different areas of the college if they think that you can benefit from a resource or service; they could refer you to Academic Coaching (for academic success skills), the Roadrunner Resource Center (for emergency aid and support), or the First Resort (for tools to navigate LBCC), and more. In these cases, a representative from the department you’ve been referred to will reach out to you.
Notifications are meant to support you at important points so you can remain focused on your goals at LBCC. You’re not alone in your academic journey, and your success team is there to understand the issues you’re facing and help you take the steps to succeed in your coursework. Everyone stumbles sometimes in their journey towards their goals, but it’s how you react to it that makes a difference!
