Smoking/Vaping/Use of Tobacco

Purpose

To comply with the Oregon Indoor Clean Air Act under ORS 433.835 through 433.875 and in support of the 2012 Tobacco-Free Campus Executive Order students and staff may pursue an education in an environment that limits exposure to the harmful effects of smoking and vaping.

Statement

LBCC is committed to a healthy campus that minimizes the potential negative impact of products used in smoking, vaping, and chewing tobacco. These rules pertain to limiting tobacco use and products used in e-cigarettes and other smoking devices in public places and workspaces except those designated as smoking areas. The purpose of the Oregon Indoor Clean Air Act and the Tobacco-Free Campus Executive Order is to reduce the health hazard to persons in confined public places inhaling smoke and vapor caused by tobacco and other vaping products.

Use of all tobacco and vaping products, including chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, and other smoking devices, within all enclosed college buildings, both on the main campus and in the outreach centers, while traveling in college-owned or leased vehicles, and on any college property and other than shelters/areas established as designated smoking areas shall be prohibited.
