Purpose

To clarify that Linn-Benton Community College is committed to the value of inclusion, the strategic goal of equity, the principles of equal opportunity for all individuals, and to full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, statutes, and accrediting requirements regarding equal opportunity in its programs, policies, procedures, and practices.

 

Statement

Linn-Benton Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.  In accordance with Board Policy 1050 – Equal Opportunity Statement, the college strives to provide an inclusive environment and equal opportunity to all individuals in its employment practices, services, programs, and activities, and prohibits unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, ethnicity, use of native language, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, marital status, disability, veteran status, age, or any other status protected under federal, state or local laws.

Procedures for implementing the college’s equal opportunity for job applicants and employees include the following:

  1. In open recruitments, all individuals shall be given an equal opportunity to apply and compete for employment opportunities.  The college will consider all qualified applicants for employment.
  2. All personnel practices will expressly conform to the prohibition against discrimination.
  3. All employment practices will expressly conform to the prohibition against bearing an adverse or disparate impact on members of protected groups.
  4. All regulations and practices relating to employment actions such as promotion, termination, layoff, and reassignment shall be equally applied and non-discriminatory.
  5. All job requirements, selection criteria, and employment decisions shall be directly job-related and essential in nature to the job and/or necessary for business operations.
  6. The college shall continuously post a Comprehensive Statement of Nondiscrimination on all its official internet pages, which will include links to an online reporting system so employees or students may report concerns and complaints related to discrimination, harassment or other barriers to opportunity that may present.
