Nondiscrimination and Nonharassment

 

Purpose

The Linn-Benton Community College Board of Education is committed to providing an atmosphere that encourages individuals to realize their potential.  The college prohibits unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, ethnicity, use of native language, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, marital status, disability, veteran status, or age, or any other status protected under Federal State or local laws, in any area, activity or operation of the college. In addition, the college complies with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (as amended), related Executive Orders 11246 and 11375, Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (as amended), USERRA – Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and all local and state civil rights laws.

 

Statement

The president shall establish administrative rules and procedures that seek to ensure compliance with all applicable statutes, and that clearly prohibit unlawful discrimination on the basis of protected class.  The president shall further assure that there is a clear and easily accessible venue available, through which employees and/or students who may experience harassing or discriminating behaviors may seek timely and appropriate remedy through a complaint and appeal process.
