Driver Education & Vehicle Safety
Did you know every 7 seconds, someone is injured in a car crash? Or that every 15
minutes someone is killed?* LBCC has over 25 years of experience teaching Driver Education in Linn and Benton
counties. Courses are approved by the Oregon Department of Transportation Traffic
Safety Division and utilize their curriculum.

To register for Driver Education courses, you will need the following:
- An image of your Student Driver Permit or License submitted in jpeg format (driverpermitimage.jpg)
- Proof of personal driver insurance
- Credit card information for online payment
- Important: Student and Parent will need to complete the registration process together
- Important: Remote students must attend in-person Parent Orientation the first week of class.

Driver Ed w/Permit
This ODOT approved program includes mandated 30 hours classroom instruction, six hours
of driving and observation which are scheduled outside of class time. Parent/student
orientation at first meeting. Remote class must attend the in-person
parent orientation at the Albany Campus on January 9.
CRN 34522 (Albany) - Orange
- Meets on Sundays
- Starts on January 5th
- Ends on March 16th
- Student must attend class on January 5th & January 12th – no exceptions
- Student must be available for their first drive between: after class on January 12 and before class on January 26
- Time: 2:00pm - 5:00pm
- Location: Albany Campus, LBCC Forum Building, F-104 & F-115
- Registration: Monday, November 18 - Opens at 8:00am and closes when seats fill

CRN 34546 (Remote) – Purple
- Meets on Thursdays
- Starts on January 9th
- Ends on March 20th
- Student must attend class on January 9th & January 16th – no exceptions
- Parent Orientation on January 9th meets in-person at Albany campus -- attendance is required
- Student must be available for their first drive between: after class on January 17 and before class on January 30
- Time: 5:30pm-8:30pm
- Location: Remote via Zoom and Google Classroom
- Registration: Tuesday, November 19th - Opens at 8am and closes when seats fill
- Fee: $389
Driver Ed 18 & Over
Class includes 30 hours classroom instruction, PLUS 12 hours on the road (six hours behind the wheel plus six hours driver observation) which are scheduled outside of class time. Class must be dropped 72 hours prior to start date for refund. Supplies included in fees. Does not qualify for waiver of driving test at DMV. Remote class must attend the in-person parent orientation at the Albany Campus on January 9.

Possible waiver of DMV Behind-the-Wheel drive test - Specific requirements must be met in order to qualify and will be presented during the parent/student orientation. Note: students over the age of 18 do not qualify.
The State of Oregon has the following mandatory requirements:
- Both student and parent/guardian participate in a three-hour orientation class.
- Students are required to attend the first two class sessions, no exceptions.
- 30 hours of classroom instruction.
- 12 hours on the road with an instructor (six hours behind the wheel and six hours of active observation).
- 5 hours minimum of additional documented, supervised driving practice. Driving must be supervised by someone at least 21 years of age, with a valid driver license for at least three years.
IMPORTANT: You must read the Parent and Student Handbook before attending orientation.

Become a Driver Education Instructor
Work up to 16 hours a week during the school year and up to 40 hours a week during Summer Term. Hours are flexible with competitive pay. Driving time is scheduled by the instructor, and LBCC will provide the instruction vehicle.
Requirements
Candidates must be 23 years of age with a minimum of three years driving experience.
Must be computer literate and fluent with standard Google suite applications. Must
be able to work with students of all ages.
Preferences
Preference given to applicants who are bilingual, specifically in Spanish. Preference
given to those with training as law enforcement, emergency personal, nurses, mail
carriers, delivery drivers, public transit drivers, or K-12 teachers.
Special Instructions
Applicants are responsible for completing a 9-week certification to earn their ODOT
Instructor Certification. Applicants are responsible for the cost of training, with
potential partial reimbursement after two terms of service.
