Honoring Tim McQueary, LBCC Hero

A true champion of student success

Recently our college community lost a true champion of student success: Tim McQueary of Sweet Home, Oregon.

Tim passed away in February 2021, but leaves an incredible legacy of generous support to Linn-Benton Community College that has paved the way for many students to realize their dreams.

Tim and his wife Jo Ann, who continues to serve on the LBCC Foundation Board of Directors, were the founding members or our current student emergency fund, which helps students facing unexpected hardships—from food scarcity, to housing, to transportation, to childcare and more —so they can get back on track and continue to pursue their goals. In addition, the couple has contributed generously in time and treasure to the Culinary Arts Program, Healthcare Occupations Center, general scholarship fund, and more.

“We are a part of this community, and as such we feel it’s our responsibility to give back to it,” said Jo Ann and Tim in a past interview. “Healthy communities happen when people step up and give, whether it be with resources, time or both. For us, giving takes priority over a fancy vacation. It’s how we choose to spend our time and money. For us, it’s just the right thing to do.”

Announcing the Tim McQueary Endowment Fund

In honor of Tim's legacy, the LBCC Foundation Board of Directors has established a new endowment in his name. Proceeds from the endowment will go directly toward deserving students who need a helping hand in order to finish college. Join in continuing Tim and Jo Ann's lifelong commitment to helping those in need by making a contribution.
