Elizabeth Pakravan receives Human Relations Commission Award

Elizabeth PakravanElizabeth Pakravan received the City of Albany's Human Relations Commission Award, which recognizes an individual for excellence in equity, diversity and inclusion.

Pakravan is an Employment Outreach and Recruitment Specialist in LBCC's Human Resources department. Her work includes offering professional development workshops in Spanish and English for parents, students, and community members. She attends public events and gatherings, and works to develop relationships between LBCC and the community.

Pakravan also works closely with employee search teams and hiring managers to design hiring processes that are bias-free and work toward ever greater equity in hiring outcomes.

“This award is a nice acknowledgment from the community in that it recognizes the sincere effort LBCC shows, not only in words but in concrete deeds, to honor our value of inclusiveness, our core theme of cultural richness, and our strategic goal of equity for each student we serve,” said Pakravan.

LBCC’s Employment Outreach Program was developed to address fast-changing demographics in our community. As the local citizenry and students become increasingly more diverse, particularly in terms of race, students have communicated that seeing staff, faculty and managers from their own communities contributes positively toward their persistence and completion.

By working to better serve these students' needs, LBCC is positioning itself as an Employer of Choice for diverse employees in Linn and Benton Counties.
