Corvallis classroom expansion and parking
Proposed location: LBCC Benton Center, Corvallis
Proposed size: 20,000 square feet; 200 additional parking spaces
Estimated Cost: $8 million
Demand for community education and college transfer classes in Corvallis has outgrown the LBCC Benton Center’s capacity to provide them. This has led to critical shortages of both classroom and parking space at the Benton Center. Growth in the college’s partnership program with OSU, which allows students to attend LBCC and OSU at the same time, and increased demand for the health, personal enrichment and professional development opportunities at the center have contributed to the shortages.
This project will provide the space and parking to meet demand in Benton County. Additional classrooms will mean better service for both students in the degree partnership program and community education programs serving all of Benton County. Additional parking will address both the current critical shortage and add spaces to serve additional students attending because of expanded classroom capacity.
