  • Why Should You Go Into Coding and Reimbursement?

Our program provides excellent opportunity for employment- certified coders are in high demand!. Many students are hired directly as a result of their practicum during Spring term. With so many providers and healthcare facilities struggling financially, maximizing every penny in reimbursement has become a priority; and coders do precisely that!

Graduates of the Coding and Reimbursement Specialist program are immediately prepared to help heathcare providers and patients, and meet or exceed the competencies required by the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders), which qualifies them to sit for the national coding exam and obtain their CPC (Certified Professional Coder) credential.

  • Coding and Reimbursement Practicum

Students get the opportunity to work in offices alongside practicing certified coders from healthcare facilities all over Linn, Benton, Lincoln, and Marion counties. This is an exciting opportunity, and students get to experience this after only 6 successful months in the program.

Additionally, our preparatory process for the AAPC national coding exam helps students to succeed. This monster of a test is laid low by our fairly traditional preparation approach, which actually begins the first day of class and culminates in early June when the students sit for the national exam.

Coding and Reimbursement Facility

As of May 2017, we moved into a new building with state-of-the-art equipment! The new Healthcare Occupations Center is focused on healthcare and allows us to collaborate with other healthcare programs at LBCC.
