Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the international honor society of two-year colleges and universities.  PTK provides opportunities for scholarships, intellectual enrichment and personal development.  Membership is open to any current LBCC student:

  • enrolled in at least one credit

  • with a minimum 3.5 GPA

  • who has completed at least 12 credits towards an associate degree at LBCC

Check out PTK's Facebook page!  Or click here to visit PTK's Rocky Mountain Cascade Region website.

We the membership of Phi Theta Kappa would like to introduce the Freshman Advocacy Program, where you might find the help you need to get you on track to college success.  As a group, PTK can offer a wide variety of experiences to share to help you keep graduation in sight and make the most of your community college experience.  We have the knowledge, connections and advise that could potentially save you a lot of time and money while you attend LBCC and/or work towards transferring to a four-year university.  We can be contacted at

Greetings, I'm Eric Slyter, and I am a full-time student pursuing a degree in Chemistry. I graduated from South Albany High School in 2006 and began attending LBCC last spring, after I was unable to find a foothold in the blue collar workforce.  I finally worked my way through the “maze” of application, registration, financial aid, advisors and counselors, and would like to help you find the path through to graduation.

Hello, my name is Todd Bentley. I am currently enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science in Welding and Fabrication Technologies program. Since my return to college, I am happy to say that I have maintained a 4.0 GPA.
I grew up in the Albany area, graduating from West Albany High School in 1989. I worked several jobs before deciding it was time to go back to school to pursue the goals and dreams I've had for a long time.
Outside of school, I'm an avid fisherman. I can be found at a lake or river on days off. I enjoy the outdoors, Oregon weather permitting!  I love to camp and hike, and I love the coast. If you have questions or would just like someone to talk to, please get in touch with me. I hope to hear from you soon.
