LBCC Albany Campus

TITLE: Make Your First 3D Video Game

DESCRIPTION: Develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design. Students will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling flow of gameplay, and story telling. Student created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Ages 11-15.

TITLE: Lego Films

DESCRIPTION: Students will create their own LEGO® characters and adventures in an interactive 2D Video Game. At the end of the program, every student will have a finished LEGO® Video Game that can be shared with friends and family through a password protected Black Rocket website. Ages 11-15.

TITLE: Lights! Camera! Green Screen!

DESCRIPTION: Transport yourself to DisneyWorld, sit on a giant hamburger or fly on the outside of a plane! Learn how to create your own virtual reality - using green screen photography techniques. You will be able to create your own backgrounds that transform ordinary pictures into extraordinary graphic visuals. Participants must bring their own camera. Ages 11-16.

TITLE: Mosaic Mashup

DESCRIPTION: Create a mosaic masterpiece from recycled materials that grab your heart. Incorporating paper, glass tiles, ceramic tiles, and a wide selection of other materials, you will cultivate a mosaic treasure in a supportive group. Leave with an expanded skill set and your own unique piece of artwork. Ages 11 and up.

TITLE: Geocaching with Iphone

DESCRIPTION: Enjoy one of the fastest-growing outdoor activities - Geocaching! There are thousands of geocaches throughout Linn and Benton Counties and beyond. Class members will hunt treasure while gaining valuable positioning and navigation skills from a highly skilled professional "PabloMac". This class is a blast for youth, teens, adults and groups of friends or families. Install Geocaching app before first class. Ages 11 and up.

TITLE: App Attack

DESCRIPTION: Dive into making your own apps, just like the ones you’d see on the App Store! Using a specialized app & game development tool, students will dive into the world of web-based (HTML5) mobile apps. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and game development, you will also see firsthand how the world of App publishing functions. Student-created apps will be accessible on a private site and can be played on any mobile device or computer. No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smartphone or tablet to take the class. Ages 11-15.

TITLE: Code Breakers

DESCRIPTION: Calling all future coders, programmers, & designers! Learn the basics of coding languages like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS through a series of web projects and design challenges each day and be on your way to becoming the next tech star! Whether you want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or the high school student who just made $1 million dollars for programming in his bedroom, this course has the essentials you need to begin your journey. Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Ages 11-15.

TITLE: Teen Ranch Horse Camp

DESCRIPTION: Experience the natural adventure of horse handling and riding. Working with gentle and well-trained horses, you will receive hands-on instruction in grooming, tacking up, and basic horse care. Once you have mounted your horse, master the basics of position and control in both arena and trail riding. For beginning riders ages 14-18, with little horse experience. Students should wear boots or closed shoes with a heel.

TITLE: Minecraft Designers

DESCRIPTION: If you love the game Minecraft®, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games, this class is for you! Learn the basics of creating 3D models using a new software to design your very own objects, create skins for characters, and import them into your favorite Minecraft® games. To access their project at home students, must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft®. Tablet, phone, and game console version of Minecraft® are not compatible. Ages 11-15.

TITLE: Video Game Odyssey

DESCRIPTION: Unlock the keys to game design by choosing your own adventure! Unlike any other Black Rocket game design course, students in this program will make special top-down adventure games like Pokemon or Zelda to compete with their friends. Design unlimited rooms and levels as you continue your quest in becoming a game design master. Student-created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Ages 11-15.

TITLE: Under the Hood

DESCRIPTION: Don't let your teen get caught in a difficult situation. This hands-on class will provide your teen a brief overview of important car maintenance procedures, safety precautions, $$ saving diagnostics and more. Learn how to change oil and filter, what to do when you have a flat tire, jump start a dead battery and install tire chains as time allows. Designed for teens but could be appropriate for anyone.
