Academic Success Coaching is student-driven, strength-based support designed to empower you with the information, tools, and strategies to then identify, manage, and achieve your goals while fostering continued success in college. We provide personalized, one-on-one meetings with a trained coach who can help you refine existing skills and habits, develop new ones, and build confidence in your academic journey.

We offer support in a variety of areas such as Note-Taking, Reading and Writing Strategies, Study Skills, Time Management and Organization, Test Preparation, Stress Management, Goal-Setting, Work/Life Balance, and Online Learning. Additionally, we assist you in learning how to navigate college systems through sharing resources, providing referrals to other offices, and connecting you to campus events and services.

Why should I use Academic Success Coaching?

We strive to empower students to succeed here at LBCC and beyond by supporting both academic development and individual growth. Our focus is on providing support that's specifically tailored to your unique goals, needs, and preferences while developing skills that result in ongoing growth and achievement.

How can I meet with a coach?

Appointments are available both in-person and virtually and can be scheduled through Watermark. Drop-in appointments are dependent on availability.

  1. Log in to My LB. Open Watermark.
  2. Go to the "Meetings" tab.
  3. Choose "Academic Success Coaching" for the location.
  4. "Know who you want to meet with?" - select the name of the coach if you have a preference, or leave blank.
  5. Under "What would you like to discuss?" select "Academic Success Coaching."
  6. In the "What's on your mind" box, provide some information about what you'd like to work on. Select "Next."
  7. Choose the "40-50 minutes" appointment time.
  8. After you click "Save," you will receive a Google calendar invitation. The academic coach you’re meeting with will also send you an email with more information about your appointment. Please make sure to check your LBCC student email!

We offer appointments in 40-minute blocks. Students typically spend between 30 and 40 minutes with their coach. Appointments are available throughout the week. If you can't find an appointment time that fits your schedule, or if you need help making an appointment or logging into Watermark, please contact us (see above).
